There are wedding days that feel like they were touched by magic, and Mackenzie and Kyle’s is one of them. On top of the hill at Granite Links in Quincy, Massachusetts, the Boston skyline stretched out in the distance. The sun was shining and there was hardly any wind. It was an absolutely perfect New England day for two people who could not be more perfect for one another.
Their ceremony took place on the hill overlooking the rolling greens and hills. It was a breathtaking setting that felt private and serene. Surrounded by family and friends, Mackenzie and Kyle exchanged vows with the landscape stretching behind them. The moment was both intimate and timeless.
Their wedding party kept the energy high all day long. The bridesmaids in particular were hilarious, full of personality, and completely on board for every prompt I gave them. At one point, I had them gallop arm in arm while singing the ABCs, and it had everyone laughing until their cheeks hurt. Those kinds of moments—the unplanned silliness, the genuine smiles—are what made their wedding day so much fun to photograph.
The reception moved into the iconic Granite Links tent, and as always, this venue did not disappoint. Just as everyone was settling in for heartfelt speeches and the couple’s first dances, the sky transformed into a masterpiece. It started with soft shades of orange and yellow, then deepened into richer tones of purple and red, all painted against a blue sky that somehow looked even bluer than usual. By the time the evening went on, it truly looked like a painting brushed across the horizon, framing their celebration with an unforgettable backdrop.
One of my favorite moments of the day came earlier while Mackenzie was getting ready. The room was full of music and laughter as she and her bridesmaids prepared for the ceremony. What struck me most were the photos taped up on the wall—snapshots of Mackenzie and Kyle’s story together. They weren’t in frames, just simply taped up, and yet they were full of love and meaning. It reminded me of The Summer I Turned Pretty, where memories hang unframed, perfectly imperfect, yet full of heart. Those little reminders of their journey together made the morning even more special.
From start to finish, this day was everything a wedding should be—joyful, beautiful, and unforgettable. I am so thankful to have been a part of it and to have witnessed Mackenzie and Kyle’s love story against one of the most stunning backdrops Massachusetts has to offer.
