I had been looking forward to this session for weeks! I met Katherine and Greg at a wedding I photographed this past September (you can view that wedding here.) Greg happened to be in the bridal party so it was really cool to hang out with him again and I loved getting to know him and Katherine, together! We had a blast during this shoot. It was absolutely freezing and the location we picked was right on the water, Nelson Park, in Plymouth MA. With us being right on the water, there was nothing to block the wind making it about 10 degrees colder than it already was. To warm us up and break the ice a bit I had these two start their session on the playground. I had them pick a swing and start going!
” YOU WANT US TO REALLY SWING….LIKE SWING ON THE SWINGS?”
Why, yes, yes I do! and so, they did! I thought it would be fun to get them warmed up a bit since it was freezing this day. Starting with the swings in my opinion was so perfect. They were laughing, holding hands, making fun of each other and just enjoying one another’s company. We stayed on the swing set for a bit and headed over to the slide and the little jungle gym bridge. After that we walked around the park getting some great photos in different area’s with the beautiful ocean in the background. We talked and got to know one another and I learned a lot about their wedding day which will be at Loon Mountain in NH this July!
LINCOLN AND WINSON
Katherine and Greg asked me if their fur babies could join us for the shoot. Of course I said yes! I love it when my brides and grooms ask this question! Their little babies have meaning to them and what better way to capture such meaning than have them come to the engagement shoot! I love dogs and I have to say these two were so cute! They are very photogenic and while they were chilly, they loved their cuddles from their mom and dad! Some of the photos with the pups are my favorites, although this session was so perfect and so much fun- it’s really hard for me to choose a favorite photo.
A note from Katherine- “Greg and I both grew up in Hanover and were friends throughout high school. He graduated the year before me. We reconnected when I transferred to a college closer to home from out of state. Greg was persistent and I finally agreed to go on a date with him, and here we are6 years later. He proposed at the same spot we had our first date, and totally caught me off guard. We are getting married at a favorite spot of ours, Loon Mountain. I grew up going there as a kid and now Greg and I go up many times a year to ski, snowboard, and hike in the area. “
