There’s so much to write about these two, I almost don’t know where to start! I met Aimee and Chris last summer as they were in the beginning stages of their wedding plans. Hearing how he proposed to Aimee on the beach, after their dinner in the British Virgin Islands, gave me the chills as I pictured the most perfect night as she said yes as he swept her off her feet. While Aimee and Chris met in high school, it was not until college when they started dating…. Do we call that ‘college sweethearts?’…. totally!
I had blogged about Aimee and Chris’s engagement session which you can find here. Since they were getting married on the beach, in the summer, they were hoping for a winter wonderland engagement session. While we had to change the session date a few times, and it didn’t snow for the final date, it was freezing and really beautiful. I loved getting to know them then, and I absolutely loved getting to see them again this time, for their wedding day!
Aimee and Chris were married at the Lighthouse Inn on Cape Cod. The venue was adorable! The history behind the Lighthouse Inn is really cool and gives a great image to how old it really is. When you drive into the lot, there are little cottages all around and a beautiful old building with restaurant inside that overlook the ocean. I met Aimee at her little cottage with her girls, all excited and getting ready for the big day. Chris and his guys were getting ready close by in a different cottage. It was so nice to have both cottages within walking distance, but enough to keep them apart so they did not see one another until that moment as Aimee walked down the aisle – which Chris says was his favorite part of the wedding day. I waited for that second that Aimee walked around the bend to see her handsome groom waiting for her. I captured the look of love on his face. He was beaming with happiness as she walked toward him which was contagious as they could not stop smiling at each other. It gave me goosebumps because at that moment, I remember the sun came shining out over a cloud. After preparing for this day with Aimee and Chris, I knew that she would be walking alone down the aisle and her dad would be in her heart on this day. As the sun came out from behind that cloud and they saw each other for the first time, I am certain her dad was with her at that moment, and every moment that day. It was really beautiful and something that I will not forget.
After the ceremony and bridal party portraits, the party started. Just as dinner was ending, I looked out the window towards the water and decided I wanted to get a full photo of the beautiful venue from the jetty. As I got out on the jetty, I turned back to the venue where everyone was celebrating inside. The sunset over the ocean and the Lighthouse Inn was absolutely stunning. Quickly, I went back inside and asked permission to take the new Mr. & Mrs. back outside on the beach for a little getaway. I wanted them to get to enjoy each other, on the best day of their lives, taking in the beautiful cape cod view, while the people who meant the most to them danced inside. It was a nice quiet summer night and the time spent with them was so special. They walked hand in hand on the beach, laughing and talking about how amazing everything was. The sky turned a pretty orange, red and purple and I captured the beauty of their relationship and their day all at once. It was definitely one of my favorite moments, and Aimee also agreed that it was one of hers!
Aimee and Chris, Thank you so much for inviting me celebrate with you on your wedding day! The two of you are just so sweet together. Your smiles are infectious and your love for one another radiates out of your pores. I could not stop smiling all day long , and I felt so welcomed by your family and friends. The Lighthouse Inn might just be one of my favorite places to photograph on Cape Cod and I can not wait to go back there. And when I do, I will be thinking of you guys! It was such an honor to capture your special day, and I am so excited for you to see just a few of my favorite photos. I hope you love them as much as I do!
