Studio Maternity Session | Lori & Hayden

There is something so special about a studio maternity session. It’s quiet, intentional, and focused entirely on this fleeting season of life. Lori and Hayden’s session at The Ali B Studio was exactly that. A beautiful pause before everything changes. It is filled with connection, anticipation, and so much love for the baby they’re about to meet.

Studio maternity sessions offer a completely different experience from outdoor sessions. Inside the studio, we remove the distractions and let the focus stay exactly where it belongs. On you, your story, and this incredible chapter. The lighting is soft and controlled, the environment is calm, and every detail is thoughtfully curated. And together, we create timeless images that will never go out of style.

For Lori and Hayden’s session, we used one of the studio’s signature fine art backdrops—a hand-painted, textured setting. It adds depth and elegance without taking away from the emotion in the images. It creates that elevated, editorial feel while still keeping everything natural and authentic. These backdrops are perfect for maternity sessions because they highlight movement, shape, and connection in such a refined way.

One of the things I love most about offering studio sessions is the client wardrobe available right here at Ali B Studio. While Lori chose to bring her own outfits—and absolutely nailed her look—the option is always there to make planning effortless. The studio wardrobe includes a curated collection of gowns designed specifically for maternity, postpartum, and beyond. These pieces photograph beautifully, flatter every stage of motherhood, and take the stress out of “what do I wear?” It’s one of those little details that makes a big difference in the overall experience.

When it comes to timing, maternity sessions are best if done between 28 and 34 weeks. During this window, your belly has that beautiful, defined shape, but you’re still comfortable enough to move, pose, and truly enjoy the experience. Every pregnancy is different, of course, but this timeframe tends to give us the perfect balance of comfort and that classic maternity glow.

Lori and Hayde brought such a calm, connected energy into the studio. The way they looked at each other, the way they held onto this moment—it’s something you can feel in every image. These are the kinds of sessions that remind me why I love what I do. It’s not just about documenting a milestone—it’s about preserving a feeling.

A quiet kind of magic before the next chapter begins. I can not wait to see them again before baby arrives 🤍
