Studio Cake Smash | Manchester, NH

There’s a special kind of joy in witnessing a family grow and change over the years. Especially when there’s a cake smash involved! As a photographer, I have the unique privilege of capturing these fleeting moments… The ones that make up the details of a family’s story. One of the most heartwarming traditions I’ve been a part of is photographing a family’s first birthday cake smash sessions. And this recent one is extra special.

I’ve been photographing this lovely family for four years now. Beginning with a maternity session when their firstborn was just a little bump in mom’s belly. Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of documenting their journey—from that first maternity session to the joyous newborn moments, family sessions full of laughter, and even the first cake smash of their little boy. Fast forward a few years, and here we are again, celebrating another beautiful milestone: their daughter’s first birthday cake smash!

There’s something magical about first birthdays. They mark a year of growth, change, and countless firsts—not just for the baby but for the entire family. The cake smash session is a delightful way to capture this milestone. It’s messy, it’s fun, and has genuine moments of surprise, joy, and laughter.

This particular session had lots of giggles and smiles, as their little girl explored her cake with curious hands and an adorable determination. She didn’t hesitate to dive right in, delighting in every squishy handful of frosting and every new taste. Watching her expressions shift from curiosity to joy to pure, messy happiness was priceless.

Moments like these are why I love what I do. I get to capture not just the milestones but the essence of who a family is—their love, their playfulness, their unique bond. It’s an honor to be a part of their journey year after year, preserving these cherished memories that will be looked back on with fondness for years to come.

As I look through the photos of this session, I am reminded of how much this family has grown, not just in numbers but in love and connection. From maternity sessions cuddles and now another cake smash, I feel incredibly lucky to have been a part of their story. Each session is a new chapter, and I can’t wait to see where their journey takes them next.

To this beautiful family, thank you for allowing me to capture these special moments. Here’s to many more years of love, laughter, and of course, more cake smashes! Miss Carly was such a cutie!
