Our Family Session

Today I get to interrupt sharing my sessions to give you a little peek at my family. It has been about 4 years since we had our last family session. Ethan was 2 years old and Henry was 20 weeks in my belly! It was time to update some photos on our walls.

I wanted to share this session with you now, the week of Thanksgiving 2020. I felt like this was the perfect week to share it because well, these guys are the ones I am most thankful for. Celebrating Thanksgiving 2020 is going to be looking a little different over here. While we always travel to visit my side of the family in New Jersey, we are celebrating at home. Just the 4 of us ( well 5… Porter did not make it to this session… he has way too much puppy energy for a shoot.) I am 100% home home sick and missing everyone in New Jersey and praying that everyone stays healthy and when we are able to travel again, New Jersey will be the first place we will be going.

This year, my friend, Morgan Hope Photography worked her magic and met us at Hampton Beach South to capture our family. I figured since we celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary on September 4, 2020 that makes for a good reason to do this and get dressed up for it. I think I started planning for this about 4 months before it happened. I knew the colors I wanted to have so that it will match our living room area when I go to get some photos printed. I spent time on Pinterest looking at color schemes that matched but I knew I did not want the boys to be wearing the exact same outfit.

I know what you are thinking, 4 months to plan outfits?! well, 1. we were in quarantine 2. I did not want to stress out about it the week before. I wanted to know exactly what we were wearing so I did not need to think about it once my fall season was getting started. I actually recommend this for you. If you know you are going to be having your photos taken, start thinking of the look you might want if you print your photos. What colors will look nice in your rooms? What style do you want to express with the family? When you are out and see something that is totally a “picture outfit” think about if thats the one you want to base your other outfits on. For me, I found my dress first and just loved how it flowed and the color blue was perfect for what I envisioned in my house, so I got the dress and then I started to plan for the kids. Once I had our 3 outfits together, I told my husband the colors and he chose his own outfit. I love how it all came together and I am so excited to have a few of these printed on canvas’ in our home.
