Spring in New England always keeps us on our toes. And Kyle and MacKenzie’s Duxbury beach engagement session was no exception! With storms in the forecast and the kind of sky that can go either way, we made the call to move forward with the shoot as planned. And I am so glad we did.
We met at beautiful Duxbury Beach, and the weather started out absolutely perfect—soft light, gentle breeze, and that peaceful, golden glow that comes just before sunset. Kyle and MacKenzie were so easygoing and fun. They made the most of every moment as we wandered along the dunes and shoreline. Their laughter, connection, and comfort with each other made photographing them a total joy.
About halfway through the session, the sky began to shift. You could feel a storm building in the distance—the light became rich and dramatic, the skies darkened just enough to give us that moody contrast, and the wind began to stir. Honestly, it created the most incredible atmosphere. Their photos captured that perfect blend of romance and wild beauty—like nature itself was showing off for them.
We wrapped up just in time. As we finished the last few shots, the wind really picked up, the clouds rolled in fast, and moments later the hail and rain came pouring down. But by then, we had everything we needed (and more). It was the perfect mix of calm and chaos, and a session I’ll never forget.
Kyle and MacKenzie—thank you so much for trusting me and being such troopers! Your session was full of heart, adventure, and that beautiful edge-of-a-storm energy. I had so much fun with you both and absolutely can’t wait for your wedding day. If this session is any sign of what’s to come, it’s going to be amazing.
