Bird Park – Walpole, MA | An Extended Family Session

There’s something uniquely special about photographing an extended family session. Especially when it’s in such a beautiful place as Bird Park in Walpole, MA. It’s more than just gathering everyone for a group shot. It’s about capturing the essence of family, the connections between generations, and the love that binds everyone together. Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to photograph a wonderful extended family that I’ve had the pleasure of meeting at several weddings I’ve captured. You can see those weddings here: Marie + Matt | Christine + Danny. Their decision to entrust me with their family session was undeniably heartwarming and I’m excited to share this experience with you.

Extended family sessions are a beautiful celebration of family unity. They bring together grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and sometimes even great-grandparents. These sessions capture the diverse dynamics and relationships within a family, creating memories that they will cherish for generations.

Photographing an extended family offers a unique opportunity to document the joy, laughter, and sometimes the chaos that comes with large family gatherings. It’s a chance to see how different generations interact, the similarities and differences in features and personalities, and the collective love that brings everyone together.

This particular family holds a special place in my heart. I first met them while photographing a couple of weddings within their family circle. Each wedding was filled with joy and warmth, and I had the pleasure of witnessing the family’s closeness and love for one another. When they reached out to me for an extended family session, I was thrilled.

Knowing them from the weddings made the session even more special. There was already a sense of familiarity and trust, which allowed everyone to relax and enjoy the moment. We chose a beautiful outdoor location that provided a perfect backdrop for their family portraits. Here are a few photos from their session. I can’t wait to see them. again! xo.
