A Crisp October Day in Norwood

Some wedding days feel like they were made for the couple. Alyssa and Jake’s was one of them.

October 19 arrived cold and clear, the kind of New England fall day where you can see your breath and the trees are doing all the decorating for you. There was a bite in the air, a little wind, and that golden autumn light that photographers dream about. It was the perfect backdrop for two people who were about to throw one of the most fun celebrations I’ve had the joy of capturing.

This is the story of their day at the Tiffany Ballroom in Norwood, Massachusetts.

Getting Ready: Waiting for the Moment

Alyssa and Jake chose not to do a first look, and I loved that for them. It meant the whole morning had this quiet, buzzing anticipation running through it.

On Alyssa’s side, there were laughs, deep breaths, and those little moments that happen when the people who love you most are all in one room. The final touches, the dress, a few happy tears before the day had even really started.

On Jake’s side, the nerves showed up in the best way. He kept checking the time, cracking jokes with his crew, and clearly counting down the minutes until he’d finally see her.

Two people, apart for just a little while longer, both waiting for the same moment. That’s the magic of skipping the first look.

The Ceremony: Worth Every Minute of the Wait

When the doors opened and Alyssa started down the aisle, all of that anticipation came pouring out. Jake’s face said everything. It was the first time he’d seen her all day, and you could feel the whole room catch its breath with him.

This is exactly why I love a no-first-look wedding. That reaction can’t be rehearsed or recreated. It happens once, and it’s real.

The ceremony was heartfelt and full of smiles. There were vows that had guests reaching for tissues, a few laughs sprinkled in, and a kiss that sent the room into cheers. Just like that, they were married.

Portraits in the Fall Chill

After the ceremony, we slipped away for portraits, starting inside the venue. The hallways of the Tiffany Ballroom gave us elegant, cozy backdrops, and a few quiet minutes for the newlyweds to just be together and take it all in.

Then we braved the chill and headed out to the courtyard, where rows of string lights glowed overhead. Yes, it was cold. No, these two did not care one bit. They huddled close, laughed between shots, and lit up right along with those lights.

There’s something about a chilly fall evening under twinkling lights that pulls a couple closer together. Every portrait felt warm, even when the weather wasn’t.

The Reception: A Dance Floor That Never Emptied

Then it was time to celebrate, and wow, did this crew know how to celebrate.

The Tiffany Ballroom was glowing as guests came in from the cold, and the energy only went up from there. Alyssa and Jake made their grand entrance to a room full of cheers, and the party was officially on.

Their first dance was sweet and a little dreamy, the kind of moment where the rest of the room fades away. Then the music picked up, and the dance floor filled. And it stayed full. All. Night. Long.

Grandparents, college friends, little cousins, everyone was out there. There were sing-alongs, spins, shoes kicked off under the tables, and more than a few epic dance moves I was lucky enough to catch on camera. Alyssa and Jake were right in the middle of it all, soaking up every second with the people they love most.

It was loud, joyful, and full of life. Exactly what a wedding should be.
