There is something about a New England fall wedding that never gets old. The colorful leaves, the crisp air, and the way everything seems to glow. The shades of gold, orange, and red make this season so beautiful. Meghan and Kyle’s wedding at Hyla Brook Estate in Derry, New Hampshire, was one of those days. It reminds me why I love photographing weddings in the fall.
The fall foliage was absolutely incredible! The trees surrounding the estate were bursting with color, creating the most beautiful backdrop for their wedding day. If you are planning a fall wedding in Southern New Hampshire, you know how unpredictable the foliage can be. But made seeing all those vibrant colors on Meghan and Kyle’s wedding day even more special.
Hyla Brook Estate was the perfect setting for their celebration, with its beautiful grounds and natural scenery. Everywhere we turned, there was another gorgeous spot to photograph, and the autumn colors made everything feel even more magical.
One of the sweetest moments of the day happened before Meghan and Kyle even saw each other at the altar. They chose to have a first touch. A moment when they could hold hands and connect without seeing one another before the ceremony.
I absolutely love when couples choose to incorporate something like this into their wedding day. There is so much anticipation leading up to the ceremony. Even when you are excited to get married, it is completely normal to feel nervous. Having a few quiet moments together, away from the busyness of the day, can make such a difference.
As Meghan and Kyle reached for each other’s hands, you could feel the nerves begin to settle. There was something so beautiful about that simple connection. They didn’t need to see each other to feel close; they just needed that moment together before everything began. What started as an emotional, anticipatory part of the day became a chance to take a breath. To share a little reassurance and remember what the day was really all about.
These are the moments I love capturing most. They aren’t always the ones that make it onto a wedding timeline as a major event. But they often become some of the most meaningful memories. A first touch is such a wonderful way to share a private moment. It saves the excitement of seeing each other for the first time during the ceremony.
Soon, it was time for Meghan and Kyle to exchange vows. During their beautiful outdoor ceremony, they were surrounded by the people who mean the most to them. There is something so special about an outdoor ceremony in New England, especially in the fall. With the colorful trees all around them, the setting felt effortlessly beautiful without needing much else.
Watching a couple surrounded by their favorite people as they promise forever to one another is one of those moments that never loses its meaning, no matter how many weddings I photograph. After all the anticipation, the nerves, and the excitement leading up to the ceremony, the moment they finally stand together as a married couple makes it all feel real.
After the ceremony, we took advantage of the incredible fall colors for portraits. The rich reds, golden yellows, and warm oranges created the perfect backdrop for Meghan and Kyle. I love when a wedding venue has beautiful outdoor spaces that allow the surroundings to become part of the story. These are the kinds of photographs that feel timeless while still bringing you right back to a specific place and season.
One of my favorite parts of a wedding day is getting to step back and watch everything unfold. The excitement, the laughter, the happy tears, and those little in-between moments are often what couples remember most. Wedding days move so quickly, and there is so much happening at once. My goal is always to capture not only the beautiful details but also the feeling of the day, so that years from now, my couples can look through their photographs and remember exactly what it felt like to be there.
Meghan and Kyle’s wedding was such a beautiful celebration of their love, and the combination of their happiness, their meaningful first touch, and the incredible autumn scenery made it a day worth remembering.
As a New Hampshire wedding photographer, I feel so lucky to photograph couples in places like Hyla Brook Estate. We have so many beautiful wedding venues throughout Southern New Hampshire and New England, but there is something especially wonderful about seeing them surrounded by peak fall foliage. Every year is different, and you never quite know what the colors will look like, which makes each fall wedding unique.
Meghan and Kyle, thank you for allowing me to be part of such a special day. I hope these photographs always bring you back to the beauty of your wedding, the people who celebrated alongside you, and the excitement of beginning your marriage together.
Congratulations to you both! Wishing you a lifetime filled with love, laughter, and countless beautiful memories.
