Travel Journal – Day 1 to Orlando, FL

Travel day 4/29/22

From Manchester NH to Orlando, Florida. Our flight was at 8:20am. We left the house at 5:45am, got through checking our bags at Spirit Airlines and through security in about an hour. Our flight was boarding around 7:45am.

Danielle, PJ, Steve, Porter and Sawyer (our best friends) were on the same flight as us. We learned they were directly behind us on the way to Orlando and Disney which was exciting! The kids were thoroughly excited and wore matching “Disney Bound” outfits and had a wonderful flight. The kids were well behaved and occupied with tablets, games, podcasts, snacks and candy!

We arrived around 11:30am to Florida. The excitement was buzzing, despite the airport being busy. Once our checked luggage was off the flight and on the belt, it felt like we waited awhile (almost an hour). Next, we were off to the Mears Connect bus to go to our resort.

Mears connect was great, they gave the kids small backpacks with their logo on them. Our name was up on a tv screen once we checked in, welcoming us to Orlando. The kids loved sitting on a coach bus. Luggage went under the bus and we shared it with about 4 other families. Crossing under the Walt Disney World sign was so cool!! AHHHH!!

We arrived to Port Orleans French Quarter Resort around 1pm. I was able to check in to the resort on my phone through the app. The room was not yet ready but we were able to leave things with Bell Services while we explored the hotel. We grabbed some lunch at the Sassagolua quick service meal area and then walked around. Saw the pool, laundry area, the river boats to Disney Springs, Little Lizards the boys would try to catch.

Our room was ready just before 3pm. After getting settled, I placed an order for groceries from Instacart/target/Publix. I had a stroller rental dropped off at 3:30pm from Kingdom Strollers (Highly Recommend) and went to the pool for a little bit.

Around 5pm we dried off, changed and took the boat to Disney Springs where we met up with friends from home – The Jenka Family (Kirsten, Keith, Nelson and Iselen). The Disney Springs area was so busy! We figured out where to go and went to the 4 Rivers Cantina Barbacoa Food Truck for dinner. This was a great idea for us as the place was crowded, the kids were excited/tired and wanted to play with friends. We sat together on a nice rock wall area and were able to play, talk and relax a bit knowing we were not at a sit down restaurant and the kids were able to get up and play with their friends. The food was great and you were able to have drinks outside in the area as well.

We went into a few stores but not too many as it was getting late. We took the boat back to the hotel and called it a night knowing we had a park day in the morning. The kids were in bed by 9:15pm. I packed for the park the night before preparing the stroller and getting outfits ready to go for wake up.
